Throwing a Bridal Shower for the Young and Old - Easy Boredom-Free Ideas
The truth is that if you're a woman, there's a good chance that at one point or another you have been invited to a bridal shower that left you scratching your head or ready to gnaw off your arm just to get out of the room. Remember the dreaded bridal shower game of dressing up one or more of the ladies in the room with a mock wedding dress made from toilet paper?
Or perhaps you are more familiar with the embarrassing questionnaire that the guests were to fill out, only then to have to stand up and read answers to questions you wouldn't even spell out in the Sunday confessional. Perhaps it is for this reason that bridal showers have become a bit of a bad reputation, and why so many invitees are sending their regrets and a gift certificate. Fortunately there is a movement underfoot to breathe some new life into the borderline dead radition of the bridal shower that has so many women roll their eyes at the thought of actually attending.
The times of embarrassing games and activities are coming to an end and instead new and improved activities ensure that the bride still receives her shower, guests still bring lots of presents to help the new couple start out their life together in style, and games are still being played - but with new twists! Follow these easy tips and you too will be able to throw a bridal shower for a young or more seasoned bride with easy boredom-free ideas!
Decide on a theme and run with it. Just because presents are involved, this should not make everything else about the occasion melt into the background. Instead, you may wish to contact your local jewelry sales lady, candle gal, or make up aficionado and see if their companies offer some kind of party package. Most of them do, and this will go a long way to allow the girls to sample some make up, try on some jewelry, and sniff the soothing smells of sweet candle wax.
You may want to serve some finger foods so that nobody will be stuck in the kitchen, and everyone will be able to participate. Maybe a student masseuse could be hired for a couple of hours to give foot massages or a student cosmetologist for manicures and pedicures. Food should be kept simple if at all possible. Nobody should be in the kitchen cooking, heating up, or assembling, while at the same time a mess for the hostess should be avoided altogether. A good idea is the potluck, or if you have the funds, have some finger foods catered.
Gourmet cheeses and crackers, some wine, canapes, petit fours, crab cakes and grilled vegetable foccacias make for a wonderful spread that is easily put together and does not require much in terms of reheating. Advice is a big part of the party. Especially if the bride is walking down the isle for the first time, many well-meaning ladies have oodles of ideas and tips on how to keep the marriage blissful. Usually a book is sent around to capture those pearls of wisdom, but how about trying a new twist? Instead of putting together a book, why not all each guest to write out their advice on a piece of parchment paper and then affix it to a bottle of wine. Both the wine and the advice can then be enjoyed together by the married couple and make for great conversation starters.
If the bride or groom happens to be teetotalers, the paper can easily be affixed to chocolate bars or any other food or drink item the couple will be able to enjoy together. So go ahead and allow yourself to enjoy the celebration of the bridal shower again. Revel in the changes, and allow your ideas to roam free, and no longer feel the obligation to follow in the footsteps of boring old games that are long past their prime. Have fun with the shower and during the shower! The bride will thank you for years to come for the thoughtful afternoon or evening you put together for her.

Bridal Shower Activities - And The Best Bridal Shower Games
So, you either volunteered to have the wedding shower, or you were elected by your friends. So what kinds of things can you plan for the bridal shower to keep everyone busy for a while?
Food always works. Even if your budget is small, you can plan to have some food. Typically, the minimum food to serve at a wedding shower would be a cake, nuts, maybe some mints, and a nice punch, coffee, and maybe tea. If you cannot afford to supply food for several guests, one way to have a nice buffet, is to ask all the guests to bring a dish. It is nice, if when sending out the bridal shower invitations, you include this information. You can send a separately typed note that you insert into the invitation, asking that all guests bring a dish. You can even request a particular item from a guest. You could type up something like the following:
Dear Guest,
Please bring one of your favorite dishes to the bridal shower. We would like to have a tasty buffet,
so we are asking that everyone bring a dish. You are asked to bring some kind of salad. It can be
a Jello salad, green salad, mixed bean salad, potato salad, or whatever kind of salad you feel
would compliment our buffet.
Along with the dish, please bring several copies of the recipe. We will be leaving copies out for
anyone who might want one. The bride-to-be will be given a copy of each recipe brought to the
shower!
Drinks, plates, utensils, condiments, etc., will be provided.
Please R.S.V.P., to Jane, at phone number: 111-111-1111, by Saturday, June 12.
Thank you, and be sure to come hungry!
Sincerely,
Susan
Or, you could have catered food, if your budget is not something to worry about. Food allows everyone to enjoy some time to sit and get to know each other. If nothing else, they can usually enjoy talking about the food.
The other thing besides food, to occupy everyone for a while, should be some shower games. There are many kinds of games available. You can purchase game pads, with ideas, at places like gift shops. You can print games and game information from the internet. Most games are easy to set up by yourself. Following is a list of some games that are fun, will get everyone talking to each other, and won't cost very much.
First, you will need a list of some items you will need at the bridal shower if you plan to play games. Don't forget the following:
Note paper
Pencils and/or pens
Small prizes or gifts
One note about the prizes; many people like to purchase more gifts for the bride-to-be, instead of giving the prizes to the guests. Others would rather that the guests receive the prizes that they win. This is personal preference. But say you would like to purchase more gifts for the bride-to-be, and, you are having a kitchen themed bridal shower. You might want to purchase gifts like kitchen towels, potholders, kitchen decorations, etc. On the other hand, if you are purchasing gifts for the guests, you might want to purchase items that are more generic, like candles, chocolate, etc. If you plan to give the prizes to the bride-to-be, you may want to be sure all the guests have been informed of this before you begin playing games.
Here are some games you may want to explore for your bridal shower.
The Gift Basket Game: For this game, place about 20 items into a basket. Let's stay with the kitchen themed wedding shower here, so you would want to put all kitchen items into the basket. Things like utensils, potholder, kitchen towel, packets of sweetener, etc. You let everyone view the items in the basket for thirty seconds. Then, have each guest make a list of all the items they can remember from the basket. The person with the largest, correct list, wins the prize.
Bridal Word-Scramble Game: Give all the guests some paper and a pencil or pen. Have them write the bride-to-be's full wedded name across the top of their page. Give them five minutes to see how many words they can make from her name. The guest with the most correct answers wins.
Wedding Advice Game: Have everyone write down two or three pieces of advice for the bride-to-be. Have each person sign their sheet. Then collect all the sheets, and save them for the bride-to-be. These can be added to a scrapbook that is made about her bridal shower too!
Who Am I Game: Pin the name of a famous person on the back of each guest. They have to find out who they are by asking questions to the other guests. Set a rule before you start, for example, the tenth person to figure out who they are wins the prize. This will cause a lot of interaction and fun. You can stay with the theme for this also. If you are having the kitchen themed shower, you could use names like: Emeril Lagasse, Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, etc. Be sure to throw in a couple of names that have nothing to do with food!
The Can't Do or Say Game: The hostess gives each guest a clothes pin when they come to the shower. Let the guests know, that there are three words than no one can say during the bridal shower. For example, "bride", "wedding", and "groom". Then, if someone hears another guest use one of the words, they can take their pin. The person at the end with the most pins wins. Another variation of this game can be, to let the guests know that no one can cross their legs at the ankles. Then, if a guest catches someone crossing their legs like this, they take their pin. Again, the person with the most pins will win.
Famous Couples Game: Prior to the day of the shower, make some lists of names, which will be half of a famous couple. For example, you list the names: Popeye, George Bush, Angelina Jolie, etc. Make a list of about fifteen to twenty couples. Then, have the guests complete the list by entering the other half of the famous couples name. For this list, they would enter: Olive Oil, Laura Bush, Brad Pit, etc. The person with the most correct answers wins. Be prepared for a tie. You may want to have extra names for a tie breaker!
How Well Do You Know the Bride Game: This is a fun game to see how much each guest knows about the bride-to-be. Make a list of ten to twenty questions about the bride. Ask the guests the questions, one by one, and let them write down their answers. The person who answers the most questions correctly wins a small prize. Make up your own questions, or use the examples listed below:
What is the Bride-to-be's favorite color?
What is the Bride-to-be's middle name?
What's the bride-to-be's shoe size?
What was the bride-to-be's first job?
What's the color of the bride-to-be's eyes?
What's the bride-to-be's favorite band or solo singer?
What's the bride-to-be's favorite TV show?
What's the name of her favorite film?
What's the name of her favorite book?
What's the name of the bride-to-be's favorite shop?
What's the bride-to-be's favorite food?
What's the name of the bride-to-be's favorite actor?
What's the name of the bride and grooms favorite restaurant?
What month of the year did she meet the groom?
Herbs and Spices Game: This is a fun game too. Using paper cups, place an herb or spice into each one. Cover with paper or foil, mark each cup with a number, and punch a small hole into the covering. Have each guest sniff the cup, then write the name of the herb or spice, identifying it by its number on the cup. Whoever gets the most answers correct, wins.
Bridal Shower Bingo Game: This is a fun game but takes a little more planning and organization to play. You will need to print out some Bridal Shower Bingo cards. (You can find these on the internet for free.) You will also need a list of the words that are on these cards. Cut up the list of words so that they can be pulled from a hat or a bag. Give each guest a card. The cards will have words which are associated with weddings, romance, gifts, etc. The hostess usually acts as the bingo caller, and pulls the pieces of paper with the words printed on them, from a hat, or a dish, or a bag. Then she calls out the word. When a guest has the word on her card, she marks it off with a pencil or pen. The first guest to mark off a line, horizontally, vertically, or corner-to-corner, calls out "Bingo" and wins that game.
The Bridal Shower Raffle Game: At the end of the game session, have each person write their name on a piece of paper, and place all the names in a basket. Have the bride-to-be pull out a name. You can give away a small gift, or the table centerpiece!
Other than games, there are still activities you can plan for the bridal shower. First on that list of course, is opening gifts. Be sure to allow enough time after games so the bride-to-be can take her time and enjoy each gift.
Another nice activity for the wedding shower that most people don't think about, is if the hostess, or the maid-of-honor, or the mother of the bride-to-be, puts together a video of the bride-to-be's life, up to the present. It can be a fun way for guests to remember things about her, and it can be very sentimental for the bride. A person's life changes so much when they marry, that it is fun to have a "documentary" of life before marriage, with the bride-to-be as the star, with her friends and family all there with her. If someone is good with a PC, a CD can easily be made from home videos or from still photos. If the CD is made from photos, it can be set to music. If you don't know anyone that can do it for you, ask around. Many people know other people who do this on the side, as a hobby. If you still can't find anyone, look in the phone book for people or small businesses that make CD's, call around, and then, check on line. You will most certainly be able to find someone to do this and it is a great way to make it a day to remember for the bride-to-be!
Give a great wedding shower and have fun!

Need Ideas for Bridal Shower Games?
The bridal shower game you choose should add to your guests' enjoyment. Bridal shower games help to get the conversation flowing, and make guests feel relaxed. The number of activities used will depend on the length of the shower, and sometimes the type. For instance, a sit-down meal will keep your guests occupied for a longer period of time than simple snacks. Generally speaking, two to four games is plenty.
Are there any main rules to follow?
Consider the ages of your guests. Then, choose appropriately. Never make anyone feel uncomfortable. Keep it light and simple. Try to do something that includes everyone.
*** Have a favorite bridal shower game? Share it!
What kind of games are there? There are all type of activities. Some have questions and answers. Some require active participation like Charades or dancing, while others are sedentary. Some theme based ideas use props. You need to consider the atmosphere you're trying to create and whether you are trying to coordinate with a particular theme.

? Bridal Shower Games AtoZ is a great source for over 40 printable games, including themes, that you can download immediately. You can print as many as you need. This is a fast convenient way to organize this area of your planning. Use as is, or personalize the words and headlines, as an extra special touch.
? Bridal Bingo: Guests are given a bridal shower bingo game template upon arrival. The spaces may be preprinted with wedding related words, or gift choices.
? Bridal gift bingo is played as the bride opens her gifts. She announces each one, and the guests check their cards. You can have them fill one row or the whole card to win.
If you are using wedding related words, it is played like regular bingo, with the spaces being filled on each guest's card as the word is called.
? Who Really Knows the Bride? Prepare 10-15 questions ahead of time, that relate to the bride. For example, what is her favorite food, color, movie, book, etc. The guest wih the most correct answers wins.
? Bridal Shower Scramble: Mix up twenty words associated with brides, and have guests unscramble them. For example, church could be "urcchh", and groom could be "oomrg". The guest who unscrambles all the words first, wins.
? Who's That Girl? Have the bride leave the room, then ask specific questions about her. What type of shoes was she wearing? Did she have a sweater on? Was anything in her hair? Be creative. It sounds simple, but many guests will have been busy chatting, and will have to give some real thought to the answers. The guest with the most correct, wins.

Bridal Shower Games Liven Up a Party!
Are you hosting the bridal shower and want to really liven it up? There are some hysterical bridal shower games that you should definitely take a look at. Some of these games are for mature audiences so be careful if your old Aunt Sophie is attending. You know what? Never mind. She probably knows more than all of us combined!
A great way to get the party started is to get your guests involved in the party fun as soon as they walk in the door. The perfect way to do this is to hand out the Helpful Hints cards! Do you remember way back when every kitchen had a recipe box? These cards are kind of like a recipe for a happy marriage. Each guest writes down a "hint" or advice for the couple. This is definitely not only a fun way to start the party, but will also be a treasured keepsake for the couple in years to come.
Instead of the bridal shower bingo that every one plays at the party, how about a contest to see who can navigate and complete the heart maze first? Each guest is given a card and a pencil and gets ready to go when the whistle blows. The first guest through the maze heart wins! You can give the winner a heart bridal shower favor as the prize.
Trivia! Who doesn't love to test their knowledge with trivia? This fun bridal shower game is contains 52 questions about wedding customs, relationships, etiquette and more. A sample question is what is the cost of a wedding? (Do we really want to know? It's the price of a good down payment on a house).
Looking to spice up the night? Then the bachelorette's naughty scramble game is perfect. Your guests will have a blast unscrambling these naughty words. The guest that figures out the most words wins. Make it a double contest with each guest voting on the guest they think will the game. Come on - we all know one of us is a little bit more knowledgeable than the rest of us! Which one of you is it?
Another great risqué game for a bachelorette party with some real scratch off party fun. This party game is all about the sheet on the handsome bachelor. Give a card to each guest as they arrive at the party for some hard core party fun. The guest that scratches off the sheet to reveal the "jewels" wins. Now this is a game I'd really enjoy playing.
No matter which type of party you plan to have - calm or rowdy - selecting a few fun bridal shower games will definitely put the fun into the party. Enjoy yourself.

Sending Out the Bridal Shower Invitations
As the maid of honor, you're the one in charge of the shower invitations. This is your chance to get creative and let your style, and the whims of the bride, shine brightly!
When you are looking into invitations, you must first choose a theme. Talk with your bride about what she would like to see as the theme of her party. If it's to be held outdoors, consider invitations that invoke the feeling of nature. You could even send your invitations with pressed flowers inside! If it's to be held at a lavish nightclub, consider including a tiny shaker of margarita salt with the invitation. The possibilities are endless!
When it comes to actually sending them out, make sure to send one invitation per person. If you are inviting couples, send one invitation to the couple with both their names listed. If you are going to be hosting a party that requires guests to bring something, note that in your invitation as well. For instance, I recently attended a "recipe shower" in which the preferred gift was cooking supplies. That was noted in the invitation, and there was also a blank recipe card enclosed. By the end of the night, the bride had a whole cookbook of great new recipes to try!
Request an RSVP if your invited guests plan to attend. If you need to know how many people will be attending, the RSVP is definitely recommended, but be warned: It seems RSVP manners have fallen by the wayside these days, and you might not hear from everyone. Be prepared to call those who have not responded within a few days of the party, to make certain of their plans.
Finally, send the invitations at least two weeks in advance, but not more than three weeks ahead of time. You want them to give them time to find a great gift, and you don't want to send the invitations too late, and run the risk of your guests already having other plans for the evening.
Then start planning the bridal shower - and have fun doing it!

Christian Bridal Shower Games - Can There Be Bridal Shower Games Specifically For Christians?
Bridal showers have long been a rite of passage for young women who are getting ready to get married. It's a fun time for women to gather and share their advice and experience about marriage with the young woman who is about to take the plunge. However, bridal showers are also a time for fun and frivolity. Bridal shower games inject a lot of life, personality, and laughter into the party.
In recent years, the trend has leaned toward personality centered bridal showers, even theme bridal showers. Even if you're not going to go all out with a theme, though, most brides really want their bridal shower to reflect who they are as an individual, who they are on the inside.
Naturally, if the bride is a Christian, particularly if she is very involved in the church and committed to her faith, then she would want to include her Christianity as a central theme of her bridal shower, just as it is a central theme of her personality.
In fact, in many instances, Christian bridal showers will actually be held in the church where the wedding is taking place, which is usually the church where the bride, and most often times the groom also, attends church on a weekly basis. This in itself lends a Christian theme to the party.
But what really defines bridal showers? The cake? The gifts? The chatting and mingling? Of course not! The hallmark of any bridal shower is the games. So to make it a truly Christian bridal shower, you need to have Christian bridal shower games.
This takes creativity, but it can be done. By putting a Christian spin on some classics, you can have a beautiful and fun Christian bridal shower complete with Christian bridal shower games.

Wedding Traditions - From Bridal Showers to Wedding Receptions
Romeo- Oh Romeo- Where thou Is My Romeo
Oops, wrong story but you have now found your Romeo and you're now planning your wedding. Typically there are general wedding traditions the bride and groom follows, from the bridal shower, bachelorette and the bachelor party, the wedding ceremony through the wedding reception.
Most brides choose the maid of honor which most likely is her best friend who has stood by her side through the good times and the bad times. Someone the bride knows and trusts! The maid of honor will help her through the planning process of the wedding and even assist in, or organizing the events such as the bride's bridal shower. The bride will also choose 3-5 bridesmaids whom will not only stand beside her at her wedding, but, will also help her with the planning or her wedding. Did you know the bridesmaids have been a wedding tradition for centuries? A different meaning back then from today! What used to be said, that the bridal party were there to confuse any evil spirits by dressing the same as the bride. Today of course, the bridal party is there to support the bride.
The groom will do the same as the bride in choosing a best man to stand beside him at the wedding ceremony. Typically he's the best friend whom have shared many adventures together and held each other up through the good and bad times as well. He would be the one to organize a bachelor party for the groom which is considered his last night out as a single man. Did you know that in the ancient years, the best man was not only the grooms best and trusted friend but he was there to defend the bride's family off? The reason...... the groom would seek out his future bride, then, he would capture her to make her his wife. Hmmmmm, I don't think that would work very well in today's society. Although, I believe there still are Shot Gun Weddings! But that's an entirely different wedding story. Along with the best man, there are 3-5 groomsmen whom stand beside the groom through the duration of the wedding planning.
The bridal shower is where all of the bridal party, the girl friends and the bride get together and have a party event. They will organize a variety of events throughout the bridal shower event. If your bridal shower begins to slow down, bring out the games you would typical play at a bridal shower event. One game may be, "How Well Does the Bride Know the Groom". Prior to the shower event, put together several questions to ask the bride. Some questions may include "How old was the future groom when he had his first kiss" or Where was his first date or more simple ones would be his favorite color, lucky number and so on. There are many games that can be played during the bridal shower. You can find many website which have bridal shower games for your event. Many of the games are simple and will cost you nothing to organize and participate. Another tradition at the bridal showers are bridal shower favors. Used to be your would get some mints, candies or chocolates and wrap them up in tulle or in a small favor box. Well ladies, those days are over and there are many styles and designs of bridal shower favors. Whether your shower is a themed event or by color that matches the wedding decor, there's a favor designed for the occasion. These are inexpensive bridal shower favors you can present to each of your guests and even use as a gift for the winner of your fun filled shower party games.
Now for the best part of your wedding. The wedding ceremony, what every bride wants! As both the bride and groom are nervously waiting, and the clock is ticking down by the seconds, the bride is continuously rehearsing the wedding ceremony through and through, wearing something old (linking to her family's past), something new (hope, good fortune and success), something borrowed (from a happily married woman for good fortune), and something blue (love, fidelity, and purity). Recapturing all her decisions with the wedding traditions and planning so she has that perfect wedding she has dreamed of. Yes, today is the day the both of you walk down that isle to become as Husband and Wife, a Unity of one, Wedding Bliss, Holy Matrimony, Yes, today is your Wedding Day............ Traditionally, you have a white runner down the church isle (as long as the house of worship permits), The flower girl is ready to spread the rose flower petals, the ring bearer, fidgety, but patiently waiting with the rings softly setting on the ring bearer pillow. Ok, we'll pause a minute. How many of you know the meaning of the wedding ring and WHY you wear them on your third finger? Do you give up !!!, Oh you're searching for the answer now, no fair......... The ring is a never ending circle which symbolizes never ending Love, the wedding ring worn on your third finger is that the Romans believe that the vein in that finger runs directly to your heart. I know, I know, get back to the traditional weddings. If your doing the lighting of the unity candle ceremony to bond the bride and groom in unity as one, have the unity wedding candles setting on a table with white linen and lace for your ceremony. All your bridal party in place and the wedding guests are patiently waiting as well for the traditional wedding march song to begin. Let the Wedding Begin.................................. Don't forget the wedding favors, let your wedding guests throw rice as done in the early days, but today, there are many options for wedding favors for your guests. Wedding poppers filled with streamers, rice shaped as hearts, or dried flowers made into sachets. Any of these wedding favors you can find nicely package with great presentation to match your wedding theme, colors or ensemble. Oh Yeah, one more thing, tossing the bridal flower bouquet as the bride and groom are making dashing away to the horsedrawn carriage which awaits them. The bouquet has the same meaning as the brides garter, the single woman who catches it will be the next one to Wed.
Now that the bride and groom have become as one, it's time to party - celebrate a new beginning and journey of life together as husband and wife. The wedding reception will be fun and much more relaxing than your wedding ceremony. As tradition, there are more ceremonies which are organized at the reception. Here Are Some Great Bridal Shower Ideas
Bridal showers are meant to be fun and to leave a lot of great memories. Of course there will me many more parties and celebration in the future, however this is the bride's final party as an unmarried woman.
There are many things any future bridal can do to organize a fabulous bridal shower. Of course all depends of her taste, time for organization and budget.
There are some basic things to be considered when planning a bridal shower party - the guest list, the menu, will there be any games, themed party or not, decoration, menu and so on. Organizing a bridal shower can be an exhausting task so it is best to have someone to help you or someone to organize the whole event.
There is no point to go over the pure organizing stuff such as how to compile your guest list or how to choose the location and the menu for the event. Instead we will give some theme party ideas that can turn the ordinary party into a real thrill.
'Round The Clock Party
No, it doesn't mean the bridal shower should last 24 hours! Each guest is assigned a time of the day and he should give a gift reflecting that time. For example if a guest receives a ticket with 10 am time written on it, he should give a breakfast set as a gift. It is a fun party idea as some of the gifts may be quite quirky.
Retro Tea Party
Ask all of the guests to come dressed appropriately and have a retro tea party. Prepare some light snacks and have a lot of fun. Try to behave like a refined ladies - this will bring a lot of laugh and defiantly lots of funny pictures.
Room of the House Party
Similar to the 'Round The Clock Party but the guests are asked to bring gifts related to a room of the house. You can make a kitchen party, a bedroom party, a dining room party and so on. It is a great way for the couple to receive all the items they need for their home. It is a nice to have a list of desired gifts as well to avoid duplicate items and undesirable gifts.
Pampering Party
It is a girl's only bridal shower party idea. All of the gusts should bring pampering gifts for the future bride and even try some on her. A great way to reduce the wedding stress and to have some fun with some of your best girl friends, you can try different cosmetics together, different hair styles or make up. Some professionals can be asked to come to give the future bride heavenly massage or facials.

Wedding Word Scramble - A Popular Bridal Shower Game Choice
A wedding word scramble game is always a hit at bridal showers! Almost every guest can successfully unscramble at least some of the words, making for a fun race to the finish. And almost every bridal shower hostess can write a great wedding word scramble game.
Here's how:
1. A scramble game is the most fun if it is written especially for the bride being honored, so plan in advance. Don't wait until the last minute.
2. Think of some interesting facts/people/items related to your special couple.
3. Make a list of 15-20 words about the happy couple, including their names, jobs, hobbies, background, etc. Or, make a list of word related to the upcoming wedding. This list might include the names of the attendants, and the locations of the ceremony and reception.
4. Start scrambling your words! If you want to make the words hard-to-solve, I recommend that you not use the actual first letter of the word as the first letter in the scrambled word. For example, if the word is MINSTER, use RISMITEN rather than MIRENSTI. Break up as many letter combinations (TH, ING, ER, etc.) as you can in order to add to the difficulty level.
5. Proof your work. Make sure you've used each letter exactly once in the scrambled word. Nothing would be more frustrating for your guests (or more embarrassing for you!) than to have typos, misspellings or unsolvable words in the game on the day of the wedding shower!
6. Type your game in an appealing format. Use your own computer to experiment with fonts and layout. Double space your lines so guests have plenty of room in which to write. Add some humorous clip art.
7. Print out ONE copy and proof the wedding word scramble game again. It's often easier to find mistakes on a hard copy than on your screen.
8. Print copies for your guests. You can copy the document to a flash drive or CD and take it to a print shop for really nice copies, or use your own home office equipment. Be sure to print a few extra copies for unexpected guests and for souvenirs for the bride.
If you're short on time, or if you'd rather use a more generic bridal shower theme, try some of the great party puzzles at http://www.word-game-world.com/wedding-word-scramble.html. You'll find wedding word scrambles on several entertaining topics your guests are sure to enjoy. Don't miss the hilarious bridal shower mad lib game! Fall Theme Bridal Shower
A bridal shower garden theme party brings to mind a serene sunny day with colorful flowers. A leisurely meal adds to the picture. What do you envision for your bridal shower garden theme party? The sunroom of a restaurant, or patio of a private home are two possible locations. If you're in cold weather, consider turning a hall into a "secret garden". Your invitations can have a bouquet of flowers, a topiary, or a straw hat design. Let guests know, if you'd like them to bring a gift that's related to the bridal shower garden party theme.
You may also suggest that they come in dresses and hats, to go along with this dainty theme.
Decorations of any color scheme, can be used for this theme. The brides favorite color is a good choice, or you may choose to coordinate with the colors of flowers in season. Latticework with silk floral vines can be used to frame the area. Topiaries, large pots of flowers, and colorful centerpieces will add to the total effect.
? Don't forget paper goods for your bridal shower garden theme party.
The menu can include snacks of vegetables, dip, and fruit slices. A delicious main course might have scoops of chicken salad, tomato stuffed with tuna salad, pasta with pesto sauce, and bread with herb dip
Serve cold drinks. Iced tea and lemonade are ideal choices.
? Garden party punch recipes...
Dessert could be blueberry cobbler, or a sheet cake decorated with flowers
If you'd like games, here are some choices:
? Guess the state flower...look up the flowers for each state, print them out on paper. Ask guests to fill in the state that matches each flower. The person with the most correct, wins.
? A to Z vegetables... give guests a paper with the letters of the alphabet. They have to fill in vegetables beginning with each letter. Set a designated amount of time. Whoever has the most, wins.

Downloadable games for your garden party, available immediately.
Leisurely favors:
? seed packets with shovel
? small grapevine wreath with theme colored flowers
? mini grater with personalized ribbon
? bud vase with a petite rose
Bridal shower garden party theme gifts:
? bird feeder
? decorative fountain
? garden stone plaque
? gardening tools
? wind chimes
? window boxes
? porch bench
? hammock

Lime Jello Party Salad
by Carole Miller
(FreeSoil, MI.)
I plan to make this salad for a bridal shower for my oldest granddaughter who is getting married on Oct. 8, 2010. We are having a bridal shower for her on Sept. 26th.
Melt 16 large marshmallows in one cup of milk on the stove. Be careful not to scorch the milk. Stir over low to medium heat.
Pour this mixture over one 3 oz. package of lime jello in a medium size bowl.
Stir together, until all the jello is dissolved, and then add 6 oz. of softened cream cheese. Mix together well. You can use an electric mixer for this.
Then add one #2 can of undrained sweetened crushed pineapple. Stir well, and put in refrig until it starts to thicken (about an hour).
Whip half pint of whipping cream and fold in one cup of the whipped cream along with 2/3 cup mayonnaise and put in refrig until set.
Bridal Shower Cake
The bridal shower cake is one of the highlights of the party. Your guests, especially the "guest of honor", will remember how it looks. Not just an ordinary dessert, it is often used as a centerpiece on the main table, or the focal point of a side table. You can be sure all the camera buffs will snap pictures. Bridal shower cakes usually coordinate with the rest of the decorations. Put serious thought into the look you'd like. Using colors and designs that go along with your theme, will help in your decision. Will it look soft and romantic, or strong and vibrant? Will it have a casual or elegant feel?
*** Have a favorite bridal shower cake idea? Share it!
You also need to decide whether to order it from your local bakery or grocer. Perhaps someone has offered to make one. Let's take a look at each.
Ordering from a grocery store or bakery, you will need to know the following:
? How far in advance to order
? The number of guests to be served
? Type: sheet cake, or round.
? Will it be more than one layer?
? Flavor: vanilla, chocolate, lemon, etc.
? Filling: fruit, icing, cream or custard.
? Icing: buttercream, chocolate, cream cheese, etc.
? Type of design you'd like.
If you're not sure, ask at the store. Their designers can offer numerous suggestions.
The bridal shower picture cake is a very unique idea. You provide the bakery with a photo. This picture is then transferred on, as the top layer of icing. Ideas that can be used are: pictures of the couple, family or friends. This is a great bridal shower idea.
A homemade recipe can be a memorable token for the bride to be. Are you or someone you know, skilled in baking and decorating? There are also many delicious mixes. Look on the box, itself, or in your favorite cookbook. The same rules will apply:
? Total guests attending
? Sheet cake, round, or other shape
? Number of layers, or tiers
? Flavor you will make
? cream, custard, fruit, or icing filling
? chocolate, cream cheese, buttercream, etc. icing
? Is there a color scheme to follow?
? What is the party theme? You may want the dessert decorated to go along with the theme.
? If you need to transport your bridal shower cake, make sure to use a board, or other means of support.
? A decorating kit can be used to achieve very professional results. Found at craft stores and online, they make decorating with different designs a breeze.
? Cake sparkles are edible glitter, sold in a variety of colors. Sprinkle on your finished cake and cake plate for a special glow.
? Thats My Topper has a great assortment of bridal shower cake tops.
Ebay has a variety of supplies...pans, recipes, decorating tools, decorations. You're sure to find some good bargains. Some items are shown. You can also type what you are looking for into the search box, below.? Have you thought about adding some jewelry? This is a great way to personalize your dessert.
? Sayings or inscriptions can be funny or serious, and help reinforce your party ideas.
? What about cupcakes? These are a great alternative. They can be simple and sleek, or ornate showpieces.
? A cake plate can enhance your choice.
? Dessert decorating ideas... decisions! decisions! decisions!
? Bridal shower cookies... a cute choice.
? Need other types of dessert ideas? What if you don't want cake?
? How about a candy buffet? This is a sweet addition to any party.
If you are having the party at a restaurant, you may have the choice of using their dessert, or providing your own. Either is appropriate. Sometimes your budget may enter into this. You may want to provide this special item on your own, if you are planning on a bridal shower picture cake.Whether you're making or ordering it, keep in mind the "guest of honor's" taste. It is her special day. Your bridal shower cake idea will add to her memories.
Do you have a bridal shower cake idea that everyone was talking about? Tell us about it. Did it go along with a theme? A picture of the cake (if you have one) would be appreciated, and helpful to others. It's easy to do, just follow the directions below.
Fall Centerpiece Ideas
The bridal shower centerpiece helps to set the stage for your party. A lush floral arrangement, a candlescape, a balloon centerpiece, or a stand alone item related to your theme are all options. Will you have one large arrangement and several smaller ones, or will all be of equal size? Ideally, there should be one or more centerpieces on each table, depending on it's size. Your budget will also play a part. Let's look at some bridal shower centerpiece ideas:
Themed items are an option. Any of these
? unique gift baskets can be used as the centerpiece, and then given to the guest of honor to take home.
*** Do you have a unique bridal shower centerpiece idea? Share it!
? Fresh floral arrangements are always appropriate. They create instant color, and aroma. A simple yet dynamic idea is to put them in a clear vase, and add a bow in a related color. Fresh flowers can be ordered from a florist, purchased online, or selected at your local grocery store.

? The meaning of flowers...
? Birth flowers...
? Artificial or silk flowers: Sold separately or prearranged, these are available in craft, gift, and online stores. A table centerpiece made with silk flowers is everlasting, and most look very real. If you are creative, arrangements can be assembled at a reasonable cost. You'll have the choice of almost any flower and color. A single flower in a milk glass vase, or a basket of mixed silks with greenery, are possibilities.
? Topiary: While these can be found in many shapes, we usually think of the decorated ball-shaped trees for parties. These are a beautiful bridal shower centerpiece idea. They can be found in gift shops and craft stores. If you purchase plain green ones, adorn them with petite silk roses and ribbon in your chosen colors.
? Cake: The bridal shower cake is often used as the main table centerpiece. Cakes have become works of art and are often displayed as such.
? The towel cake is a unique bridal shower centerpiece that is always a hit. Made up of towels, washcloths, lotions, and other themed items, it becomes a usable gift for the bride-to-be to take home.
? Candles are a versatile option. Sold in all different shapes and sizes, they are easily adapted to various centerpiece ideas.
? Balloons: A balloon centerpiece may fit in with your bridal shower theme.
? A bridal shower theme centerpiece may be just what you need.
? Theme Items: You may have chosen a sport, hobby or other specific topic for your theme. What could you use that would fit with that theme? A beach party could have a pail filled with lotion, a towel, sunglasses, etc. A luau theme could have leis and flowers.
? Party Goods: Many of the party items available, have a matching paper centerpiece. This may work for you.
? Pictures: A framed picture of the future bride and groom is a great bridal shower centerpiece idea. You can surround the picture with a wreath of silk flowers, or several fresh loose flowers.
? Final Thoughts:
Make sure the height of your centerpieces aren't too tall, when placed on table where guests will sit to eat. You don't want to block their view, when they are trying to speak to someone on the other side of the table.
Let your centerpieces add to the overall look of the room.
What unique bridal shower centerpiece idea have you used that everyone loved? Did you attend a party with an unusual idea for a table decoration? Share it!

Unique Bridal Shower Location Ideas
The bridal shower location is one of your first planning decisions. Where to have it, is usually answered by some basic questions. You must decide:
? How many guests will be attending?
Small groups generally have more choices, but many showers need to accomodate a large number.
? What season is it?
The time of year will affect your area. Is it usually rainy, too hot, too cold? It may be great to have it outside. Take your weather into consideration.
*** Have a unique bridal shower location idea? Share it!
? What type of food will there be... appetizers, sit-down meal, buffet, dessert only, etc.?
What you want to serve, often influences the location.
? What will the budget allow?
Don't spend on a place you, or others, can't afford. You'll all be stressed, and it will show.
Based on the above, the following are some options:
Large crowds
? Beach area
? Country club
? Hotel banquet room
? Large patio or garden area
? Large private home
? Park
? Rented hall
? Restaurant with banquet room

? Intimate restaurant
? Neighborhood bar
? Patio, deck, or garden area
? Poolside
? Small rented room
If your bridal shower is catered, answering these questions will help.
If your bridal shower location is a restaurant, be sure to ask these questions.
Lately, some bridal shower locations have become less typical. So, if you?re wondering where to have a bridal shower with an ?out of the ordinary location", take a look at some other ideas that have been used:

Cook Up A Bridal Shower With A Gourmet Theme
A gourmet cook bridal shower theme is a great idea for the bride who has an interest in the culinary arts...both cooking and eating. Her leisure reading includes an assortment of cookbooks, and shopping trips typically include looking at the latest dinnerware and kitchenware. So if this describes your guest-of-honor, let's start cooking up some great ideas! Your party location can be a private home, rented hall, or restaurant.
A cutting board, restaurant scene, or fancy apron, are possible designs to be used on your invitations. Politely let guests know, if you'd like them to bring a theme related gift.
"Just right" decorations: use the colors the couple has chosen for their dishes and appliances. Balloons, and streamers provide "wow" power, with minimal effort. Simple kitchen canisters filled with flowers are easy centerpiece ideas. Hang aprons and chef hats for added interest.

? Printable games for your gourmet cook bridal shower theme
What's cooking for the main menu?
A great idea is to hire a personal chef, to cook on the spot, during the shower. Don't automatically assume this will be too expensive. The cost for this person, may be more reasonable than a buffet or a sit-down meal. The chef will also be built in entertainment for your guests, who will watch and learn some great tips.
? "Stir up" a delicious punch for your guests.
"Made to order" music: selecting the bride's favorites is always a good choice. If you are having a meal from a certain country, you might add to the atmosphere by playing their music.
Sizzling Gifts:? food processor
? knife set
? espresso machine
? cooking lessons
? gourmet food magazine subscription
Gourmet favors to go:
? jar of seasoning
? package of recipe cards
? an egg timer

Coed Bridal Shower Games - Top Tips
Coed bridal shower games can be a great icebreaker. More parties are becoming mixed. Whether you're planning a small quiet luncheon, or a big evening bash, you want to stage a successful event. So, keep these top ten tips in mind:
1. Start with a name game, or introduction, if any of the guests are just being meeting for the first time.
2. Choosing a theme ahead of time will help you come up with ideas for your activities.
3. Coordinate your couples games with your party theme. For instance, a Beach Theme could have volleyball or horseshoes, set up if appropriate.
4. If this is a formal shower, plan for quiet games...one may be enough. These can usually be played while guests are seated. Or if you have a large turnout, and the couple has a lot of gifts to open, play a game or two in between. This will make it fun for guests.
5. A casual party can incorporate dancing and even karaoke into the event.
6. Make sure coed bridal shower games are appropriate for all ages that are invited.
7. Trivia can be geared to guests of different generations. Pick a category that goes along with your theme, such as Rock 'n Roll.
8. Plan on activities that won't embarrass anyone.
9. Encourage, but don't force, participation. Most times, this isn't an issue, but if a guest doesn't want to take part in what you're doing, let them happily observe.
10. Don't get carried away with too many ideas. Your coed bridal shower games should enhance your party, not overpower it.
